What is the average price of health insurance in Queens, New York?

2

I am 26 years and turning 27 soon. I would like to know the average price of health insurance in Queens, New York? I tried getting some quotes online and all the prices are coming out to over ,000 a month. Some of them more close to 00. I didn’t know the health insurance for an individual was this high. In this Case, I don’t think any one who makes low starting salary would be able to get health insurance. I used to pay a little more than 0 a month when I had student health insurance. Also, I heard from one of my cousin(who is 50 years old)…that he pays less than 0 a month…Which made me get confused when I got the quotes online. Also, it is really difficult to get quotes online since they ask for personal infos. I do not want to give any of my personal infos. Can anyone please tell me if there are any health insurance plan ranging from 0-0 a month? Thanks~

For a perfectly healthy, not overweight, absolutely NO preexisting conditions, on a low/no deductible plan, without maternity, at the age of 27, you can expect to pay about $600 a month.

If you want maternity, or are overweight, or have any preexisting conditions . . . it’s going to cost a lot more.

If your cousin who is 50, has a private plan that he pays less than $500 a month for, then 1. he’s not in New York and 2. He’s got qite a hefty deductible there.

The price range you are looking for, is NOT realistic, for a low/no deductible plan in New York.

Those online places are going to harvest your personal information, and sell it as leads to agents.

Your best bet, is to talk to a local insurance agent/broker. They will NOT sell your personal information, AND, they’ll help you balance cost and coverage to get you something you can afford – or at least, give you a realistic price range for your personal circumstances.

For a young person in good health, private health insurance is much more expensive in NY State than most of states.

If you have a job, but your monthly household income is less than the amount shown below, then you may qualify for coverage through the state’s "Healthy New York" program, which gives you several inexpensive options, including one that costs less than $170 per month in Queens. See http://www.ins.state.ny.us/website2/hny/rates/xml/queens.xml for the options in Queens and their prices. See http://www.ins.state.ny.us/website2/hny/english/hnyeci.htm for the eligibility requirements.

Family Size Monthly Household Income
1 Up to $2,257
2 Up to $3,036
3 Up to $3,815
4 Up to $4,594
5 Up to $5,373
6 Up to $6,153
Each Additional Person Add $780
