Family health insurance via LLC vs private policy?

I am planning to register an LLC, mostly for protection of my personal assets as I conduct business as an independent contractor in Ohio. However I have also heard that once I establish the LLC, I could hire my wife as an employee and apply for small business health insurance to cover our family. My current health insurance (my parents’ policy which was in effect as long as I was a full-time student) will lapse at the end of the year. My wife has health insurance from her university but it is not very good protection.

What are the benefits or disadvantages that I might face with organizing a small business health insurance plan through my LLC versus purchasing private family health insurance?
